Last day of the Training!

Today is the last day since we started a three days training program which started on Wednesday 24th 2014.
Today i learned how to do research in internet, doing advance search on internet, using search tools bar on Google!
Again i learned how to add pictures on the blog and posting stories into the blog.
The whole training was a success, i managed  to meet with my expectation. 
I am going to teach my students to properly do their researches on internet and be able to acknowledge sources as needed. No plagiarism is allowed! I will be a pioneer to ensure no plagiarism is done. 
I really enjoyed the whole process of putting up a blog, it was so awesome, and it has been my dream and finally i can proudly say, am an expert!

Smart Kigali Initiative

Smart Kigali is the initiative which was launched in September 2013, which allows citizens to access free Wi-fi all over the city.
 The initiative is made possible with a number of agencies such as Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency (RURA), Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Rwanda Hotel and Restaurants Association, the City of Kigali as well as Internet Service Providers. 

Kigali is one among the top ten African cities with free Wi-fi.

Kigali became the first city in East Africa to launch free wireless internet access, it follows foot steps of big cities like Toronto, Houston, Bangkok and Taipei.

The country's vision 2020 is to aiming at changing Rwanda into a middle income country and information rich society. This is seen possible with Smart Kigali Initiative.
Following this initiative, Rwanda government has signed a contract with South Korea to build a 4G network which will consequently reach 95% of the population.

Second Day

The second day of the training was superb. I learned a lot of things, like layout, designing a blog, adding links and most of all searching materials on the internet.

I was exposed to most popolar websites like www.pamabzuka.net/en/ and allafrica.com
We also had a discussion about the speech by Rupert Murdoch, most especially the the question concerns of digital migrants and digital natives. This was so interesting discussion as these ideas were presented in 2005, here we are in 2014 seeing what was envisioned in reality.

I was amazed of how many things internet can offer. I was also able to add links of blogs to my fellow participants like Shekha Hussein. I am constructing this blog as i am learning.
Mistakes must happen, so do not get amazed to see corrections here and there.

This week at a glance!

My name is Rehema Muniko, an assistant lecturer at the school of journalism and and mass communication of the univeristy of dar es salaam.

I am also the owner of Akamai Business Solutions. Being an academician and an enterprenuer, i find myself in quite tight schedules but fortunately i manage by God's grace.

This week i will be attending a training on internet journalism.

My expectations are to learn how to source materials online as well as how to acknowledge them when you are putting together a story.

This will be an interesting week as i have started to lean how to set up a blog....i will definately have this for my businesses and i will have one for academic purposes.
